RE: Winning with immigration

I'm really skeptical of the idea that immigration reform will win the GOP a meaningfully higher share of the Hispanic vote, but James Pethokoukis makes a good point here.

Even if it will be initially hard to move the Hispanic vote rightward, immigration reform sends a signal to other groups — Asians, women, younger voters — that the GOP is an open, inclusive, and compassionate party.

In other words, electorally, this is about more than just the Hispanic vote -- it's about an indirect nod in the direction of other important demographics.
